Deorro Reveals he had “Mental Breakdown” After Releasing Iconic Track “Five More Hours”

With great success from the 2015 hit “Five More Hours”, Deorro’s “mental breakdown” wasn’t a part of the plan.

Releasing music in general has a certain type of courage because art is being put out in the world for people to judge it. But when you release music with somebody that has more notoriety than yourself, there is way more noise about your art than you’ve ever come across. After the release of “Five More Hours”, Deorro’smental breakdown” he experienced is understandable.

First releasing music in 2012, Deorro was stepping into the industry making noise in the EDM scene. With steady releases for years after, he started to garner a fanbase and really was making his way through success. After releasing the single as “Five Hours” originally, he landed Chris Brown as a feature for the massive follow-up single “Five More Hours”.

Deorro explains in the video above that, “My management at the time was just like, “we need another “Five Hours” – how do I do that now that there’s something expected of me?” The pressure from himself and management caused him to forget what he enjoyed about music.

Deorro continues to say, “I took a break, I went home spent time with my family, I went to a party and I was just like, ‘Damn bro, I forgot about this part of me. It clicked, I have a lot to offer.'” Even though he didn’t take a long break from making music, there was a change in the kind of songs he started to make. After spending time with family and friends, he was able to get inspired by his roots. Now Deorro likes to mix melange with EDM, which has brought him a lot of Latin fans.

The past few months, Deorro has been on tour but is having to cancel the Asia portion of it. He released a statement via Twitter explaining how a family health issue has arisen, but he wants to “come to Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan as soon as possible”.

You can take a listen to his most recent song, “Oye”, featuring Poncho De Nigris below, which was released March 17th, 2023. If you would like to see Deorro on tour, you can purchase tickets here as he will be continuing his tour starting April 16th, 2023 in Las Vegas.
