GRiZ’s Camp Kulabunga 2023 Applications Now Open For a Limited Time

Summer camp enthusiasts, listen up: Now is your chance to relive some good ol’ summer camp fun along with inspiring workshops and immersive wellness activities at GRIZ’s Camp Kulabunga 2023.

As the weather warms up and trees start to bloom, there’s no doubt that a feeling of summer anticipation in the air. Between incredible festival lineups and outdoor concert series, summertime is every EDM enthusiast’s dream–could anything make it better? Actually, yes: Applications are now open for GRiZ’s Camp Kulabunga until April 5.

Camp Kulabunga touts itself as an “intimate 4-day retreat curated by GRiZ & friends, focused on radical inclusion, community, self-empowerment, wellness,” according to the event’s website (where you can also apply for the 2023 session now). Now in its sixth year (and fourth year IRL), Camp Kulabunga 2023 will take place September 7-10 in Ortonville, MI.

Community is one of the most important pillars of the adult summer camp, as it actively works to create a safe space where about 100 or so strangers come together to learn more about how they interact with themselves, their environment, and their community in a sober, technology-free setting.

The Kulabunga team announced the opening of applications for the 2023 summer session through a cheeky crossword puzzle on Instagram. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with users celebrating and sharing their experiences in the comments. @livcabry replied to the post, “Just do it guys. It will change your life forever.” User @karinalaguardia echoed the sentiment, writing, “Anyone who is even remotely considering…don’t think just do!”

While the lineup of activities and speakers for 2023 hasn’t been released yet, based on previous years campers are in for a treat. At both prior virtual and in-person Camp Kulabunga sessions an array of yogis, meditation masters, trainers, therapists, social workers, spiritual healers, and more have been workshop facilitators–making the retreat a place of rest and realignment for body, mind, and soul.

American DJ Grant Kwiecinski, better known by his stage name GRiZ, is something of a shapeshifter with music producer, saxophonist, activist, event planner, and overall good vibes master being just a few of his many hats. Between his GRiZ Rocks events at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, 12 Days of GRiZMAS charity program, GRiZmas in July series, and Space Camp experience, the master musician seems to run the gamut when it comes to producing events.

Continuing to push his agenda of love, inclusivity, and acceptance for all, GRiZ created Camp Kulabunga in 2018 and the retreat has been going strong ever since (albeit in 2020 and 2021 virtually). “I want to empower people to be able to create systems of economic and financial and emotional, intellectual support with each other,” GRiZ said.

Camp Kulabunga applications are currently open and will close on Wednesday, April 5 at 10 pm EST. Acceptances will be released in early May. If you have any other questions about the retreat, check out their Instagram or email campkulabunga@gmail.com. Happy camping!
