Inside the Artists Featured on Skrillex’s New Albums

Skrillex has dropped not one but two albums for the first time in nearly a decade, and fans want to know more about the artists he enlisted for ‘Don’t Get Too Close’ and ‘Quest For Fire.’

Fifteen-time Grammy nominated and 8-time Grammy winner Skrillex shared his third studio album ‘Quest For Fire’ on February 17th. Then, on the following day, amid his sold-out Madison Square Garden show with Fred again.. and Four Tet, he shared a third full-length album, ‘Don’t Get Too Close.’

Two full-length albums from Skrillex means fans received nearly thirty new tracks from the internationally acclaimed DJ. A well-connected tastemaker, Skrillex recruited artists across all genres of music to contribute to either of his two albums. We see well-respected rappers like Kid Cudi, Trippie Redd, Bobby Raps, and Chief Keef lending their voices to ‘Don’t Get Too Close.’

‘Don’t Get Too Close’ also featured a number of celebrated singers and songwriters like Justin Bieber, Bibi Bourelly, PinkPantherss, Swae Lee, and Prentiss. If Justin Bieber and Skrillex in the same sentence sounds familiar, that’s because the two have collaborated previously for Grammy-award-winning “Where Are Ü Now” with Diplo. Another name that sticks out is Bibi Bourelly, who impressively contributed to two tracks on the album and one additional song on ‘Quest For Fire.”

Rapper Missy Elliot was featured on the Tik Tok smash hit “RATATA.” However, ‘Quest For Fire’ is more electronic leaning than its counterpart. The album features notable collaborations with producers in the EDM scene, such as Four Tet, Fred again.., Peekaboo, Noisa, and Porter Robinson. UK rapper and producer Flowdan was featured twice on the album.

Peekaboo shared a candid story about how his track “Hydrate” with Skrillex, Flowdan, and BEAM came together, “i had the honor of working on some music with the all time goat skrillex a few weeks ago, mainly while sitting on my balcony in hawaii. little did i know we’d finish the whole song and 3 weeks later release it on his album. i am truly mind blown and humbled. so much love to sonny, he really is a visionary like no other in electronic music and it was crazy to see his process. also massive thanks to flowdan and beam for jumpin on this and absolutely smashing it.”

Additional vocalists featured on ‘Quest For Fire’ include Starrah, Aluna, and Swae Lee again. Listen to both albums below and discover which other artists Skrillex worked with for  ‘Don’t Get Too Close’ and ‘Quest For Fire’ below:

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
