Crankdat Flips Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” Into Dubstep Banger

Crankdat’s Christmas Dubstep Banger, ‘All I Want for Christmas is Bass,’ has been released alongside a creative process video on Instagram.

Last week, American DJ Crankdat released a dubstep remix of Mariah Carey’s famous holiday hit ‘All I Want For Christmas is You.’ Crankdat’s Christmas dubstep banger, ‘All I Want for Christmas is Bass,’ was posted as a clip on Instagram, with streaming info linked in his bio.

Sporting a Santa hat, Crankdat starts his Instagram video by announcing to his audience: “‘All I Want for Christmas is You’: time to make it go MUCH much harder; it’s that time of the year.” Crankdat then depicts the creation process of his remix, incorporating sounds such as an airhorn helicopter, dogs playing around, and phone beeps. “Your drop isn’t merry unless your buildup goes hard, very,” Crankdat then says, before he displays his dance-ready remix combining all of these previously-introduced elements.

Mariah Carey’s original recording (1994) was written and produced by herself and Walter Afanasieff. The single has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, is the best-selling holiday song by a female artist, and is plainly one of the best-selling singles in music history. The song is a Christmas standard, making Mariah Carey around $3 million every Christmas.


Mariah Carey has said, “It blows my mind that ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ has endured different eras of the music industry.” Crankdat certainly lends a hand in the song’s versatility while his remix carries it over to the EDM community. His remix features his signature dubstep elements interplayed with Mariah’s original components.
