Ghastly Announces Separation of GHENGAR From Original Project

American DJ and producer David Lee has announced the evolution from Ghastly to GHENGAR is complete.

As we approach the end of the year, Ghastly shared some thoughts with his fans reflecting on his accomplishments of 2022. When Lee wasn’t working on his 2 albums, he was busy traveling the world packing out venues on tour.

In his message, he shared that his great heights also came with great hardship referring to his recent breakup and battle with sobriety. Read his full statement below.

“Sitting here, reflecting on the last year, I can’t help but be proud of my accomplishments. I released two albums and completed two tours and an international tour. I took a huge risk and started a brand new project, went sober, parentheses, two months, strong, parentheses, and I did it at all, while going through the hardship of a break up, and the loss of the home I wanted to keep. I truly believe the difficulties in life are the most important parts of it. As I always say – what good as a movie without conflict? I’m so eager to begin this new year. Thank you all for your support. I love you to the stars and beyond

P.S. Now that I have created, introduced, and launched GHENGAR I will now allow him to exist as his own artist. It’s a creature I will now set free into the world as a separate entity from Ghastly. Please follow my little monster on his new Instagram – thank you”

Though of his many endeavors, one he is most proud of is the successful launch of a secondary alias, GHENGAR. At the end of his note, he announces that after piloting GHENGAR that it will live on as his own artist, separating his identity from Ghastly. We predict that next year we will likely see GHENGAR start to appear on festival lineups.

When asked about the GHENGAR project Lee stated, “I’ll put it this way From now on: Ghastly = house music/melodic bass | GHENGAR = [devil emojis].” Coming out the gate strong, GHENGAR released his first single, “Count Dankula” which garnered rave reviews hyping up the EP that was soon to follow titled Necromancer.

Just like the Pokémon evolution of Ghastly to GHENGAR, Lee is also going through his own transformation personally. Creating this second persona allows him to channel his energy in different styles and expand his discography showcasing interests outside his normal sound. We look forward to more music and the very first full GHENGAR set in the future.

I’ve been with Exron since 2018 and have the privilege of contributing to the culture alongside other badass women whom I now call my friends. My introduction to the scene was first influenced by trap music, but my discography has since expanded to touch a bit of everything. Some of my favorite artists are Zeds Dead, Cloonee, Nghtmre, Flume, Infekt, Sosa, Bleu Clair, Subtronics, but the list goes on forever.
