Peekaboo Returns to Nightmode with Mind Twisting Track “When I’m Gone”

Peekaboo goes beyond the capabilities of his freeform sound to bring a soft spotlight to his intrusive thoughts.

Matthew Lucas, better known as Peekaboo has made his royal return to Nightmode after his label debut “Bumpy Road”. The popular track showcased Peekaboo’s natural talent in creating hypnotic, harrowing, chilling grooves that flow the breath deep into the darkest depths of wonky wop dubstep land.

On his follow-up offering to Nightmode, Peekaboo eschews the outer limits of his sound by giving his fans a left-field curveball with a bass restrained called “When I’m Gone”, featuring singer-songwriter and emerging vocalist, Xaelo. The somber piano, rainfall sounds, and lilting melody lines between the lyric “I wonder if you miss me. If you really went away. It’s really hard to let you go. Cause I can’t see you again” slow the pace down to bring to life the disheartening narrative of someone being ghosted.

Peekaboo shared that “When I’m Gone” is a song for the most important person in your life; realizing what the world would be like without them, and never taking anyone for granted.” Each raindrop sound leads the heart into the center of awareness allowing each intrusive thought to take the spotlight without judgment, only with love.

Yoooo, the homies call me Marz. I am a multidimensional Piscean Latina fairy from Miami-Dade County (no, not Florida). Electronic music has allowed me to appreciate the profound beauty that can be found in finding peace within the chaos. Artists such as Rezz, Skrillex, John Summit, Michael Bibi, and Amtrac blend the two seamlessly, creating a harmonious balance that resonates with me whenever I am on the dancefloor. When I am writing about electronic music, I feel this same balance of peace and chaos moving through me - starting in my hips, filling my heart, and radiating out from my soul. The power of music has brought me to this exact moment, and I only desire that you feel the warmth of the sun through my words.
